Two necromancers, a dragon, and a vampire – it sounds like a shortcut to disaster, and for Timmy, it’s certainly looking that way.
To earn his pardon and avoid becoming yet another necromancer statistic, Timmy has to work for the Council. From bandit uprisings to giant sea serpents and ogre invasions, Timmy and the others are there to save the day – sort of.
And despite relying on overly intelligent ninja rats, an elf who believes that fire is the answer to everything, a bureaucrat who struggles to stay conscious through an entire fight, and a precocious apprentice who has designs on his castle, property damage per mission is down, they haven’t blown up another mountain, and they’ve gone several missions without ripping a hole in reality.
Naturally, it won’t last.
When the dragon egg their resident pyromaniac stole hatches to reveal the world’s cuddliest harbinger of death, Timmy and the others are dragged into a pair of diabolically dangerous missions. Breaking out of one of the world’s most secure prisons was hard enough. Now, they have to break back in to rescue a vampire.
And then there’s the Eye of the Abyss. Does your country have a problem with a divine artefact capable of singlehandedly winning a war? Don’t worry. Just send Timmy and the gang. They’ll handle it, and Timmy might even get to live every necromancer’s dream with… zombie pirates.
Timmy and the others want their pardons, and they’re not going to let anyone stop them, not armies, not fleets, not even the most powerful empire the world has ever seen that just so happens to hold a centuries-old grudge against Everton.
The world is going to learn a very important lesson never, ever underestimate a necromancer with a shovel and time to plan.
Two Necromancers a Dragon and a Vampire The Unconventional Heroes Series Book 3 edition by L G Estrella Literature Fiction eBooks
This is the third book in the Unconventional Heroes series and although it can be read as a standalone, my recommendation would be to read the first two books. The major difference between this book and the previous two is the length; this is a much longer volume and as such, better. The author introduces a large amount of world building. We learn who the main antagonists are as well as their motivations; we are also introduced to another region, the Desert of Glass. There are also sea battles, adventurous journeys and liberal amounts of humour.
The plot is episodic, consisting of three sections but connected by an overall arc.
As ever though, what sets this book above a lot of fantasy being published at the moment is the interaction between the characters. It is pleasing to see the main character, Timmy the necromancer, being proactive, taking charge and planning in this book. In the previous books, sometimes it felt as if he was just being swept along by and reacting to events. Avraniel the elf is actually becoming a little more understandable in her psychotic way and the Old Man is very Zen. Gerald does not develop that much but then again, he is supposed to be a bureaucrat and one of the characteristics of bureaucracy is that it is unchanging; and Katie seems to be happily developing her network to take over the world. It is difficult to say anything about the new characters that have been introduced as Spot is the equivalent of a baby at this time. Even the two Councillors have a higher word count in this volume.
And of course, the Ninja Rats are…..well Ninja.
Finally, the assumptions and deductions made at the end of the books are very funny and augur well for future episodes in this very readable series.

Two Necromancers a Dragon and a Vampire The Unconventional Heroes Series Book 3 edition by L G Estrella Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I've read through the whole series, and I think this might be the best of them all. So many great one-liners and subtle insights about life and human nature. Well-worth reading. Right up there with Christopher Moore and maybe even Douglas Adams. Looking forward to the next adventure!
Part of a 3 (for now) continuing story about a necromancer (wizard whose powers deal with bring dead things partially back to life) his young assistant and his quest for redemption in the eyes of the kingdom he lives in. He never has been the strongest, evilest nor most powerful but he always seems to do better then the others of his kind?
An exciting and well crafted work, this page turner of a series just keeps getting better as the Fantasy Mission Impossible team gies from one mission to the next. Wgile each book can be read separatelym read them in order to truly appreciate the fine work from this author.
I have not words to describe how incredibly awsome is this book - and the whole series for that matter! Aventurous and wittily funny, the main characters are truly enjoyable - my favorite by far being of course the Grand Necromancer himself, Timmy (the pack of rats being a close second - and Katie and Avraniel and Gerald and the Old Man, oh, all of them) - and of course, as a pet, Spot is the most adorable nightmarish-foe-to-be ever!!! I do hope there are still a lot of books to this series - novellas in between the books would also be very well received - as I am sure everyone would love to read more and more about this incredible bunch of improbable heros - I know I would! Thank you , L.G.Estrella! Thank you very much!
I really like these novels, I love the way they are written and the characters have grown superbly since book one. I also liked that this book is lengthier than the previous two, so the joy of reading it lasts longer. With each delivery we also get more glimpses into the lore of the land, and into the life of some of the characters. Just enough to keep the mystery going while also satisfying the readers hunger into each of their pasts.
I really hope we get more of The Unconventional Heroes deliveries.
This is a suitable followup to the first two books, with inventiveness and charm to build on the plot lines that have gone before. The story m moves along, and the willing suspension of disbelief required develops effortlessly. However. The storytelling veers into Christopher Stasheff territory, with too much heartwarming activity to make the narrative fresh. It's nice to have a happy ending, but the characters need to earn it. In the end, things turn out well a little too easily. Still and all, this was an enjoyable read.
The continuing adventures of Timmy and his Friends...Frenemies??
This book is hands down my favorite so far. The length really allows the author to give us more world information, side stories and other cool stuff.
The characters journey into the desert, and what desert journey is complete without some spitting camels. Later our heroes sail the open sea and encounter pirates, because of course we must have pirates!
Overall very enjoyable read. Looking forward to the next adventure with Timmy!
